Oheka Castle

From many
points in Syosset, all you have to do is look east and you will have
a view of the castle on the hill, also known as Oheka Castle.
In 1914, Otto Hermann Kahn purchased 443 acres to build this summer
home and weekend retreat. For 2 years, a hill was built, upon
which the home would sit, making it the highest point on Long
Island. Designed out of concrete and steel , Oheka Castle was
the first totally fireproof building. The
109,000 sq ft home was a continues to be the second largest private
residence in America. Visit
