The John P. Humes Japanese Stroll Garden

Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate
135 West Gate Drive, Cold Spring Hills, NY (631)659-1400 Once the private summer and weekend home of Otto Kahn and his family, then owned by Eastern Military Academy, this 23 acre (remaining from the original 443) estate was abandoned and in disrepair before being purchased in 1984 by a private developer and completely restored. In 2004 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This estate now functions as a hotel, catering and conference center as well as some of the most exquisite gardens on not just the North Shore but all of Long Island. From many points in Syosset, including Stillwell Park, you can see the castle perched upon the hill.
